There are many cultures in northern Nigeria. The culture of aski by the Gozan or Wanzami is one of the oldest cultures that has been preserved around many parts of the north. Culture evolves but we can always find conservative human beings who remain a reference point for what used to be. The Gozan in Nupe language or the Wanzami in Hausa is a professional barber and circumcisionist who uses blades, scissors and knives to have an awesome haircut and circumcision of children. The fact that they can reduce casualties or injuries using sharp objects like knives, and razors to cut hair for people is creative. As traditional as it is, it is lucrative and people are making a living out of it even though the act is on the verge of extinction as a result of modernity. It is passed on from generation to generation without anyone having an Academic or coaching center. The act may seem simple but this simple act has over time improved the economy of small communities and families.
